A Physician Who Has Lived the Injuries He Treats

Many orthopedic physicians have studied sports injuries. Dr. Joseph Albano has also lived through them. His career combines decades of military medicine, sports medicine, regenerative orthopedics, and firsthand experience recovering from many of the same injuries his patients face.

"Surgery should be reserved for the injuries that truly require it—not treated as the first option for every orthopedic problem."

Dr. Joseph Albano

Military Medicine and Flight Surgery

Dr. Albano served for 27 years in the United States Air Force, retiring as a Senior Flight Surgeon. During his military career, he cared for service members in Afghanistan, Jordan, Korea, and Saudi Arabia while frequently serving as the only physician supporting deployed squadrons.

Today, he also serves as an FAA-certified Senior Aviation Medical Examiner, combining decades of aviation medicine with his expertise in musculoskeletal health.

Bringing Regenerative Medicine to Utah

In 2007, Dr. Albano became the first physician in Utah to focus exclusively on regenerative orthopedic medicine. He introduced platelet-rich plasma (PRP), orthobiologics, and musculoskeletal ultrasound-guided injections to patients seeking alternatives to surgery.

Clinical Insight

Because Dr. Albano has undergone regenerative treatment for many of his own injuries, he can discuss procedures from both the physician's perspective and the patient's experience.

A Philosophy Built Around Preserving Function

Dr. Albano believes orthopedic care should begin by preserving the body's natural structures whenever possible. While surgery is sometimes necessary, many patients benefit from regenerative treatments, rehabilitation, and whole-body optimization before considering irreversible procedures.

Our Approach

Every patient receives an individualized evaluation based on their injury, imaging, goals, and overall health. The objective is always the same: restore function, reduce pain, and help patients live better without unnecessary surgery.

Patients come to Albano Clinic because they want honest guidance, evidence-based regenerative medicine, and a physician who understands both the science of healing and the reality of recovering from orthopedic injuries.
